Biography

Deborah L. Feinstein was appointed the Director of the FTC’s Bureau of Competition (BC) by Chairwoman Edith Ramirez on June 17, 2013. She oversaw the Commission attorneys, investigators, and administrative personnel working to enforce the antitrust laws for the benefit of consumers.

Feinstein joined the agency from Arnold & Porter, where she was a partner and Chair of the Antitrust Practice Group. Feinstein began her career at Arnold & Porter and first joined the FTC in 1989 where she served as an Assistant to the BC Director and as an Attorney Advisor to a former Commissioner before returning to private practice.

Among her many accolades, Global Competition Review named Feinstein global “Lawyer of the Year” for 2010.

She is a graduate of Harvard Law School (1987) and the University of California at Berkeley (1983).

Feinstein is a native of Northern California.
