Textile Facemasks and Gowns
RNs are not required for textile facemasks and gowns intended for a medical purpose. The Textile Fiber Products Identification Act does not apply to textile fiber products that are subject to the requirements of the Â鶹´«Ã½ Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act. This includes facemasks and gowns intended for a medical purpose (i.e., the diagnosis of disease or other conditions, or in the cure, mitigation, treatment, or prevention of disease).
Businesses can use a registered identification number (RN) in place of a company name on the required label. Businesses can apply to the FTC for an RN or to update an existing RN, free of charge. An RN is not required.
