FTC sends second payment to people who paid for credit card debt relief services

The FTC is sending a second round of checks to people who paid money to Life Management Services, Inc. for credit card interest rate reduction and debt relief services.

The FTC and Florida Attorney General sued Life Management and several related companies. According to the lawsuit, the defendants bombarded people with illegal robocalls, falsely promised to lower their credit card interest rates or eliminate their debt, and charged them large upfront fees. The lawsuit resulted in several court orders which required the defendants to pay money to provide refunds and banned them from engaging in telemarketing and debt relief services.

The FTC first sent payments in July 2023, which resulted in more than $365,000 in refunds. Because there is still money in the fund, the FTC is sending 2,633 checks totaling over $152,000 to people who cashed their first check and paid the defendants more than $599.

If you get a check, please cash it within 90 days.
