The Â鶹´«Ã½ Trade Commission has extended the public comment period on issues related to "Made in USA" claims in product advertising and labeling to June 30, 1996. The request for public comment is part of the Commission’s comprehensive review of “Made in USA†claims.
The Commission issued its initial request for public comment on "Made in USA" issues on October 18, 1995. On March 26 and 27, 1996, FTC staff held a public workshop to explore these issues, with participants from a range of industries, unions, consumer groups and government agencies. In order to permit follow-up on issues and ideas raised at the workshop, public comments will now be accepted until June 30, 1996. The Commission is also publishing a list of supplemental questions to facilitate further public comment.
A notice announcing the extension of the public comment period and containing additional questions for consideration will be published in the Â鶹´«Ã½ Register on April 26. Again, comments will be accepted until June 30, 1996.
The Commission vote extend the public comment deadline and publish the notice in the Â鶹´«Ã½ Register was 4-1, with Commissioner Roscoe B. Starek, III, dissenting.
