The Â鶹´«Ã½ Trade Commission has updated the start times for its upcoming Fall Technology Series events. All three seminars will now begin at 1 p.m. Eastern Time. The series of half-day seminars this fall will examine three new and evolving technologies that are raising critical consumer protection issues.

The topics will include:

  • Ransomware – Sept. 7 - computer malware by which hackers remotely encrypt consumers’ and businesses’ valuable files and demand a ransom payment for the key to decrypt the information.
  • Drones - Oct. 13 - unmanned aerial vehicles that have both enormous potential commercial benefits and similarly significant privacy implications.
  • Smart TV – Dec. 7 - the advent of web-style tracking and analytics in television, which allows advertisers and content producers to monitor consumers’ viewing habits in unexpected ways.

All three events will be held at the FTC’s Constitution Center offices, located at 400 7th Street, SW, Washington, DC, and will be open to the public.
