Acting Â鶹´«Ã½ Trade Commission Chairwoman Rebecca Kelly Slaughter announced that she has appointed Marta E. °Â´Ç²õ¾±Å„²õ°ì²¹ as Director of the FTC’s Bureau of Economics.
“In Dr. °Â´Ç²õ¾±Å„²õ°ì²¹, the FTC gains a top economist with expertise in prescription drug competition and healthcare marketing to lead the Bureau of Economics, and I am pleased to announce she will join the agency later this month,” said Acting Chairwoman Slaughter. “As the nation and the agency shift to recovery and rebuilding, Dr. °Â´Ç²õ¾±Å„²õ°ì²¹’s innovative approach to pressing policy problems will help advance our work to protect consumers and promote competition and fair play for all.”
Dr. °Â´Ç²õ¾±Å„²õ°ì²¹ joins the agency from the Duke-Margolis Center for Health Policy at Duke University, where she is a Consulting Professor and serves as the Deputy Director for Policy. Previously, she was Chief Healthcare Economist in the HHS Â鶹´«Ã½ after serving as the Director for Economics Staff at the FDA Center for Drug Evaluation and Research. °Â´Ç²õ¾±Å„²õ°ì²¹ has been an Assistant Professor of Marketing at the Harvard Business School and Visiting Assistant Professor at the Columbia Business School. She has a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of California at Berkeley and a B.S. from Arizona State University.
The Commission vote approving the appointment of °Â´Ç²õ¾±Å„²õ°ì²¹ was 4-0.
